Members of the Coniston Cubs pack and Red Tarn Scouts troop from 26th Milton Keynes Scout Group took part in their first ever MK District St Georges Day Scouts parade.
As the newest Scout group in the MK District, 26th MK Scouts Group had the privilege of being right at the front of the parade, right behind the Union Jack and St George flags and District members.
The 26th MK Scouts group was led by GSL Jenny, closely followed by six Coniston Cubs and six Red Tarn Scout members plus their leaders and young leader.
Waiting to get started
As the group waited to get started on the parade, The Cubs were in good spirits before the parade, chatting and playing clapping games together. It was a delight to see the friendships in the group, and the Cubs all looking after each other. This was a delight for Akela to see!
The parade
The parade kicked off at 11am sharp and marched along a route from the car park behind John Lewis to the Campbell Park Amphitheatre in MK. We were all entertained there by a performance from the Bucks gang show with a lot of energetic singing and dancing from the stage and in the crowd! As ever, the event finished with the traditional renewal of their scouting promises for each of the sections, and talks from District and County Scout leaders, plus the Mayor of MK.
The ‘best dressed Cub’ is a Coniston Cub
The Bucks Youth Commissioner Chris went around the crowd of the Amphitheatre to pick some of the best dressed young people from across the Scouting movement to come up to the stage for the finale with the Mayor of MK. Coniston Cub Timothy was proud to be picked as the “best dressed Cub” at the gathering, thanks to some very enthusiastic flagging by our amazing YL Rikki Tikki Tavi and Cub Michael!
Well done 26th MK Scouts, you all looked so smart for the parade!
